honky tonkin' and swingin' Country rockin' Pop
"I am not sure why, but this one 'solo' album by Colin Mee is practically the most charming, wonderful and attractive for my perception. Maybe because the chosen songs are such gallant compositions. Or maybe something else. It is clear that here, as usual, you can find quality, pleasant vocal abilities, sincerity of the voice, and this is on top of musical accompaniment, which is quite close to the original look and feeling of the songs being performed. That sometimes you can't even understand which of the recordings is the original performance. Well.. not perfect, but truly fine. They sound no worse, still quite stylish, and in some ways even smarter. Perhaps, including because of the very emotive tone. This creates delightful renditions of compositions, and even brings the artist's own identity. But there is more. Maybe a really very well-chosen variety and overall touch. Since I want to call it all - a harmonious feel and top-notch work. Full of vibrancy and poise. These cover versions may sound softer, also stressless, but a little sweeter (in a way nostalgic). Backing vocals are very good at setting the mood, as well as making the sound fuller and adding a touch of entertainment to the listening experience. Besides, "Why Baby Why" is different from other solo releases, albeit it is also joy and a good production. Not the best, because each of the others has its own twist or spice and peculiarity, but SUN rock and roll, Country, Pop. A little less than five stars - but OK." smed28 - 11 February 2022
